2nd International Symposium on Terrorism and Transnational Crime

Introduction
The International Terrorism and Transnational Crime Research Center (UTSAM) at the Turkish National Police Academy is hosting “The Second International Symposium on International Terrorism and Transnational Crime.”
Special theme of this year’s symposium is “Transnational Organized Crime: Its Impacts on Globe, State, and Society.” Types of transnational crime, methods of struggling, structures of organized crime groups, border management and related issues will be discussed. Covering also the topics related to terrorism, combating terrorism, profiles of terrorist groups and terrorists, relationship between terrorism and organized crimes and other issues, the symposium aims to bring together experts, professionals, and academicians from various disciplines.
The main purpose of the symposium is to create a friendly forum to facilitate constructive dialogue between professionals and experts from academia and practice.
Call for Papers
We welcome individual papers on topics related to the symposium themes. Paper abstracts up to 300 words should be submitted to symposium@utsam.org by September 15th, 2010. Accommodation and subsistence will be provided for successful applicants, who will be expected to submit their completed papers before November 1st, 2010. Authors of unsubmitted full papers will not be included in the symposium program.
Selected papers will be published on the Journal of International Security and Terrorism, a refereed interdisciplinary journal published by UTSAM. Other selected papers will be published as articles in edited books.
